Institutional Effectiveness

Institutional Effectiveness (IE) is the ongoing, comprehensive, and integrated research-based planning and evaluation process at Pamlico Community College. The department engages in efforts to continuously improve institutional quality and effectiveness through the systematic review of institutional goals and outcomes consistent with the mission of the college.

Major functions include assessment of institutional effectiveness, accreditation leadership, institutional research and reporting, and strategic planning.

Assessment

Assessment of outcomes is a college-wide process of identifying expected outcomes, assessing the achievement of these outcomes, and providing evidence of improvement based on the analysis of results. Pamlico Community College engages in multiple assessment cycles to include administrative support services, educational support services, and academic programs.

Curriculum programs at the College are assessed at the program level (Program Student Learning Outcomes) and course level (Course Learning Outcomes). The assessment cycles ensure ongoing accountability and quality improvements to support the mission and goals of the institution.

Accreditation

The Institutional Effectiveness department plays a key role in ensuring the College’s continued compliance with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Principles of Accreditation. The College was last reaffirmed in 2023, achieving successful reaffirmation with no further reporting required after the comprehensive ten-year review.

The Director of Institutional Effectiveness serves as the Accreditation Liaison. The liaison provides accreditation leadership by ensuring that compliance with accreditation requirements is incorporated into the planning and evaluation processes at the College.
