Do you want to become a teacher? If so, the ECU Partnership Teach Program is the choice for you! The ECU Partnership Teach is an East Carolina University College of Education degree completion partnership with North Carolina Community Colleges (like Pamlico Community College). Students graduate with a four-year degree in elementary education, middle grades education, or special education from East Carolina University by completing the first two years of the program at Pamlico Community College followed by taking ECU courses online. This degree completion partnership is designed specifically for students that transition from a North Carolina Community College.

Elementary Education
A bachelor’s degree in elementary education prepares teachers for classrooms in grades kindergarten through sixth grade. Students concentrate in reading which provides additional licensure to teach reading in kindergarten through twelfth grade. ECU Partnership Teach usually starts part-time cohorts of elementary education majors each fall. Full-time cohorts for elementary education begin each summer. The degree coursework from ECU is offered completely online. Students are placed in public school classrooms throughout the program to observe and practice teaching methods learned in the courses. A full-time internship in a public school classroom is required for all students in their senior year.

Middle Grades (L.A./S.S. concentration)
A bachelor’s degree in middle grades education prepares teachers for classrooms in grades 6-9. ECU Partnership Teach students concentrate in language arts and social studies. ECU Partnership Teach usually starts part-time cohorts of middle grades education majors each fall. The degree coursework from
ECU is offered completely online. Students are placed in public school classrooms throughout the program to observe and practice teaching methods learned in the courses. A full-time internship in a public school classroom is required for all students in their senior year.

Special Education
A bachelor’s degree in special education – general curriculum prepares teachers to work with children with disabilities who are pursuing a high school diploma and are in the general education curriculum in kindergarten through twelfth grade.
ECU Partnership Teach special education majors also receive licensure to teach reading in kindergarten through twelfth grade. The special education coursework provided through ECU Partnership Teach is currently offered completely online. Throughout the program, students are placed in public school classrooms to observe and practice the teaching methods learned in the courses. A full-time internship in a public school classroom is required the senior year.
