Esthetics is a two semester, fall entrance only program. The Esthetic curriculum provides competency-based knowledge, artistic principles and hands on fundamentals associated with the esthetic industry. Course covers topics in all phases of professional esthetic technology, product knowledge, business/human relations and other related topics. The curriculum is taught in a simulated salon environment where students will develop their skills in back facials, facials, hair removal services, chemical peels, body wrapping, eyelash extensions, makeup applications and much more. Pamlico Community College offers top of the line equipment and spa product lines. Our department is equipped with a microdermabrasion machine, hydraulic beds, and a 9 in 1- electrical facial unit. Graduates will be qualified to sit for the State Board of Cosmetic Arts examination. Upon successfully passing the State Board exam, graduates will be issued a license. Employment is available in beauty salons and related businesses.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Esthetics program, the graduate should be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts of esthetics. (COS 119)
- Appropriately perform esthetics procedures including skin analysis and procedures related to consultation, and treatments. (COS 120, COS 125, COS 126)
- Demonstrate advanced services including: reflexology, water hydrotherapy, algae treatments, body wraps, acupressure, lymphatic drainage, microderm abrasion, aromatherapy, chemical peels, and camouflage makeup. (COS 125, COS 126)
