Emergency Medical Services
Pamlico Community College (PCC) is committed to providing quality training in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). PCC offers initial certification, refresher, and continuing education courses for; Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced EMT (AEMT), and Paramedic level certifications. PCC also offers specialty training and education from organizations such as the NAEMT, AHA, and more.
EMS personnel working/volunteering for a state agency may be entitled to a state tuition waiver. All active members of NC Fire or Rescue agencies requesting a fee waiver must present an affiliation letter or registration form signed by his or her captain or chief. When registering for a certification course, please submit a copy of a High School Diploma or GED certificate.
Upon completion of the general requirements for admission to the EMS program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be 17 years of age on or before the official end date of the course.
- Must possess a high school diploma, high school equivalency, or have completed an exam assessing basic reading comprehension at a minimum of the tenth-grade level.
- If a student’s competence falls below the required level, the student will be encouraged to improve those skills before pursuing an EMR credential. PCC is not required to enroll a student whose skills do not meet the required level.

Online Continuing Education Guidelines:
- All courses require a separate registration, respective to each course.
- Please use the COURSE TITLE and dates, as listed, for your registration form.
- Courses will open and close on the specified dates. On the first day of class, you will receive confirmation and login information for the respective course at the email address used to register.
- You MUST login and complete the Syllabus Quiz to avoid being removed from the course.
- All coursework must be completed by midnight on the closing date of the course.
